Study: Two-Thirds of Americans Object to Online Tracking

About two-thirds of Americans object to online tracking by advertisers — and that number rises once they learn the different ways marketers are following their online movements, according to a new survey from professors at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California, Berkeley.

Web browser market share

As of July 2009, usage data on English-language sites show Opera’s share of the browser market as being 1.97%.

For comparison, according to Net Applications the July data shows Internet Explorer still leading with a 67.68% share of the browser market, followed by Firefox (22.47%), Safari (4.07%) and Google Chrome (2.59%).

Update: Browser market share percentages can vary greatly from site to site. 37signals.com, for example, reports nearly 49% Firefox , 21% Safari and 20% IE in a snapshot of August visitors.
